I’ve put myself forward as an Ambassador for RLJ because I would like to help people who are new to running and be a friendly face for people to come to if they have any worries about running.

What I enjoy About RLJ is that every run is different and that there is always lots of different distance options. I also enjoy the sociable side of it and enjoy running in a group which has helped me to make lots of friendships within the club.

It took me two years to pluck up the courage to join Reigate Ladies Joggers. I was worried I wouldn’t know anybody and worried I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the pace of the other runners. I was completely wrong. Anna & Emma made me feel so welcome as did the other ladies and I’ve since made some great friends, who I now socialise with outside of the group. My running has gone from strength to strength and although I’ll never be a fast runner I’m happy with the progress I’ve made over the last three years since becoming a member. My biggest achievement was my first 10k, which I managed to complete without stopping! I was so proud and couldn’t have done it without the support of RLJ.

I was new to Reigate and a neighbour (coach Lindsay!) recommended RLJ. Not knowing anyone, and never having run before, I was nervous at first. But this has been such a great group of women, from the super leaders to the other runners I have met. It has honestly become a highlight of my diary and I try to run 3 days a week now. The abilities are so mixed and the runs on offer so varied that there is always something to suit. And no run snobbery, no competitiveness, constant chat and laughs. What’s not to love?

RLJ is so much more than a running club, we are a family, we look out for each other. So many friendships have been made, ladies who would never have met. We have had amazing adventures, gone places we would never have gone, and in the process we get fit and healthy.

I have been that person: new to running, nervous, worried I am going to be the slowest, and everyone is going to run off into the distance. I would now like to be the one who helps conquer those fears, supporting and encouraging, and hope they fall in love with running like I did.

I have volunteered as an ambassador as when I first joined RLJ I needed someone to chat to me and encourage me..and that someone did. Since then I have made numerous friends, some I am now sure, will be lifelong friends who I look forward to seeing on a weekly basis. I even ran my first half marathon this year, something I never thought I could do. I am very grateful to RLJ.

Hi my name is Debbie I’m a 49 year old mother of 6. I am a sufferer of fibromyalgia which causes headaches and pain in many parts of my body as well as many other things.I used to struggle to walk up the hill where I live, but since running my ability to walk with less pain has improved. I first started running in November 2017 early mornings with Reigate Ladies Joggers. But when I started Childminding i didn’t have time to run.

I started to ache and put on weight and in April 2019 I signed up again with Reigate Ladies Joggers on the Monday evening beginners course. I’m not the fastest runner but I always try my best. Reigate Ladies Joggers always support me on my run with them on a Monday evening and on the Wednesday run and strength course. My motivation is for my health to improve and to be able to meet new people. Running has helped me feel stronger in my mind and body.
