Anna Smith and Emma Mankelow are the RLJ Coaches. Both qualified Leaders in Running Fitness affiliated to UK Athletics. RLJ is completely endorsed, affiliated to and supported by UK Athletics.
I set up RLJ as I decided to set up a small l club where 'normal' non athletic ladies could learn to run, get fitter and make new friends in the beautiful Surrey countryside taking in the fresh air. I love coaching, seeing people meet personal goals and the great strength and support and fun the group brings as it brings ladies together with a common goal and interest. I hope that you enjoy all that the group can offer.
I still love all different types of running and will run as long as my body allows. It provides a great sense of satisfaction, empowerment and freedom. I also love running with others and chatting about every topic under the sun.
I qualified with UK Athletics in 2012 as a Leader in Running and Fitness and juggle my coaching with being a mum to my sons. It’s always a privilege to share my love of running with everyone at RLJ in a non-competitive and friendly environment.
Come wind, rain, shine, snow we will be at the sessions the only weather we don't run in is ice. There is never bad weather for running, just a new opportunity.
I wouldn't say I've ever loved running but I sure do love the way it makes me feel! I've always been keen on keeping fit and used to play lots of netball. I still have withdrawal symptoms, but I needed a sport that would fit into a busy schedule. Running is so flexible like that!
I decided I needed some running buddies to keep me motivated, so I joined Reigate Ladies Joggers and then Anna and I cooked up a plan for me to work with RLJ as a coach.
Now Anna and I run RLJ together and we're just so pleased that the club goes from strength to strength! I run RLJ as well as having a couple of other businesses (a local marketing company and a care home!), as well as being a mum. It's lovely to meet new people, have fun, and get fit whilst we're at it.
