Getting Started in Running

Some of you might be thinking... "BUT I’M RUBBISH AT RUNNING"!
We wanted to let you know that there’s no way to get running wrong! The most important thing is that you get up off the sofa and move.
This September we are launching our 6-week Beginners course aimed specifically at complete beginners or anyone who wants to get back into exercise after a long break.
The course starts you off walking with just a minute of jogging and builds up your energy and strength from there. You’ll be amazed how far you can go in the space of just 6 weeks.

Every session you complete will make a big difference to your physical and mental health. You will be...

  • Building confidence

  • Caring for your heart

  • Aid shifting any excess weight

  • and best of all, feel a hundred times more energised!

Running & Strength Training

This week we wanted to chat with you about combining running with strength training!
Did you know that the NHS recommends adults should take part in two types of physical activity each week, aerobic exercise and strength training?

We know many women get put off strength training as they fear becoming bulky from building muscle or even muscle turning into fat if you stop. We can assure you that none of that is true.

Strength training, in fact, develops your muscles, which means that your body burns its fat reserves more effectively. As a result, a combination of strength training and running has the best effect on your performance – you push your body to a higher level.

In September we'll be running our full 6-week run and strength course, here are 6 great reasons to join us...

Scavenger Hunt Challenge Tues, 28 April to Mon, 4 May 2020

One of the things we both love to do is a Scavenger Hunt and so we thought that it would be a great motivation to host a Virtual Scavenger Run for this next week! You could even invite your kids, husbands and partners to come out and join you which will no doubt make it a bit more fun!

If you've never done a running scavenger hunt, this is how it works;

  1. Below is a list of items that you can download (and print off) that you need to find as you go out on your runs (or walks) from today until Monday, 4 May.

  2. Once you find something on the list, take a picture.

  3. Once you think you are done collecting the treasures in your hunt simply share *all your snaps in one post on our closed Facebook group

We know some of these are pretty easy and depending on where you live/run, some can be more challenging. But don't give up. We have plenty of prizes to give out and just because you don't get all 12 of them doesn't mean that you won't be eligible for a prize.  It's about participation!

We know it's forecast to rain most of this week, but that never deterred an RLJ, right?! We've run through the wettest winter and so we are well trained to go out in less-than-perfect weather conditions!

Have fun, jump in lots of puddles and stay healthy, Ladies! We are #allinthistogether.

Anna & Emma xxx

*Please only post to the group once you have found all of your items. This will help us keep track of completed entries.
